Drinking Water: Handling & Usage

The steps of providing clear drinking water are detailed below—

STEP 1 – The water for use in the creche should be brought from reliable sources (comparatively clean).
STEP 2 – The water should be brought in a clean bucket and stored in the plastic storage container (which needs to be cleaned regularly).
STEP 3 – Some water from the main plastic storage container should be taken and boiled properly and stored in a steel storage drum with a lid for both refilling the water filter and for the purpose of cooking.
STEP 4 – The water to be used for refilling the water filter needs to be boiled before closing the centre every day and thereby stored in the steel container covered by the lid to cool down.
STEP 5 – The next morning as the centre is opened by the creche caregivers, they can refill the water filter with the water that has been boiled and left to be cooled in the steel container covered by a lid.
STEP 6 – Once the water is filtered by the water filter, it is safe for drinking for the children in our creche centre.

NOTE –

The water should be properly boiled, not merely warmed, to ensure it is safe for children’s consumption.
The water after boiling is to be stored in the clean steel container, covered by the lid. At no cost, the container should be left open.
The caregivers must compulsorily boil the water and store it to cool in the steel container covered by the lid before closing the centre every day without fail.
The water poured in the water filter must be cool, and at no cost hot water is to be poured in the water filter.
In the winters, the water poured from the water filter can be warmed and served lukewarm to the children.
For the purpose of cooking also the water stored in the stainless-steel jar which has been stored post boiling is to be used.
