Essential Considerations for Pre-Service Training

a) All sessions are designed in which it exhibits desired caregiver practices. Hence, it is suggested to keep practices-centric facilitation throughout the training.

b) Keep each training batch limited to a maximum of 24 caregivers to ensure better participation and interaction.

c) Plan an exposure visit to fully functional creches before the main training begins. This helps caregivers understand the real setting.

d) The icebreakers, energizers, and songs provided in the module are only examples. Facilitators can choose any other suitable activities based on the group’s energy and context.

e) The session flow is logically structured; however, facilitators are encouraged to review the concept notes before each session to ensure clarity and effective facilitation.

f) Each day’s sessions should be facilitated by at least two facilitators. A single facilitator should not handle the entire day’s sessions.

g) Have a clear discussion with the fire safety department officials beforehand to align the expectations of their session.

h) Ensure that a sample creche setup is created at the training venue with all the necessary materials.

i) Since this is a 5-day residential training, choose a venue with adequate toilets and bathrooms for all participants and ensure the toilets are cleaned frequently throughout the days.

j) Arrange for one dedicated caregiver and sufficient play materials at the venue to engage the children of the trainee caregivers.

k) Provide comfortable seating arrangements such as chairs or wall-supported seating considering the long duration of the sessions.

l) Ensure adequate planning to engage all the program staff (supervisors, cluster coordinators, etc.) in the training sessions from the beginning.

m) Creche setup should be made within the training venue to enhance the learning of caregivers.
