Sleeping Protocols

  • The suggested sleeping time for the children has been detailed below –
AGE TIME OF SLEEP
Infants up to 3 Months 14-17 hours
Infants 4-11 Months 12-16 hours
12 Months-2 Years 11-14 hours
Above 2 Years 10-13 hours

  • The children in the creche should be laid on their backs to sleep, and make sure they can breathe easily.
  • The children should be laid to sleep under a mosquito net hung properly from all 4 corners and properly tucked under the mattress (gadda).
  • The floor should be firstly covered with a tarpaulin sheet, and then Darri should be laid on top of it, followed by mattress (gadda). The mattress is to be covered by the protective sheet, which is to be covered by the bedsheet.
  • During the nap time post-lunch, one of the caregivers should also lie with the children to make them fall asleep, and one caregiver should always be there accompanying the children during the sleeping time.
  • During the winters, the children must be covered with the blankets available at the creches.
  • If cradles made of saree are used in the creches than they should not be hung too high from the ground and not too close to the walls. The strength of the saree should be checked from time to time for safety, and the hygiene of the saree is to be maintained.
